Cook Islands & Society Islands

Embarking on a culinary odyssey aboard the MS Paul Gauguin promises an unforgettable journey through the vibrant flavors and stunning landscapes of the Cook Islands and Society Islands. Setting sail from the paradisiacal shores of Tahiti, our gastronomic adventure unfolds across a series of enchanting ports, each offering its own unique culinary delights and cultural treasures.

Our first port of call, Huahine, beckons with its lush landscapes and rich Polynesian heritage. Here, we immerse ourselves in the island's traditional cuisine, sampling delicacies such as poisson cru, a refreshing dish of raw fish marinated in coconut milk and lime, while exploring local markets brimming with tropical fruits and spices.

Continuing our voyage, we arrive at Aitutaki, a hidden gem in the heart of the Cook Islands. Renowned for its breathtaking lagoon and abundant seafood, Aitutaki invites us to indulge in sumptuous seafood feasts, accompanied by traditional umu-cooked dishes infused with island flavors.

Next on our itinerary is Rarotonga, the vibrant capital of the Cook Islands. Here, we delve into the bustling food scene, savoring the fusion of Polynesian and international cuisines at waterfront restaurants and street food stalls. From succulent grilled octopus to hearty taro dishes, Rarotonga offers a feast for the senses.

As the sun sets, we find ourselves in the romantic embrace of Bora Bora, where we enjoy an overnight stay amidst its legendary turquoise waters and towering peaks. Amidst this idyllic setting, we indulge in candlelit dinners featuring fresh seafood and French-inspired delicacies, perfectly complemented by fine wines and panoramic views of the island's iconic Mount Otemanu.

Our culinary journey continues to Tahaa, known as the "Vanilla Island" for its fragrant plantations of vanilla orchids. Here, we learn the art of vanilla cultivation and sample exquisite desserts infused with this aromatic spice, before venturing to Moorea, where we discover a fusion of Polynesian and French cuisine amidst its lush landscapes and crystal-clear lagoons.

Finally, we return to Tahiti, where our voyage culminates in a celebration of Tahitian hospitality and cuisine. From traditional Tahitian feasts known as 'tamaara'a' to modern interpretations of island fare, we bid farewell to this enchanting archipelago with hearts full of memories and palates enriched by the flavors of the South Pacific.
