Sailing out of Miami from August 30 to September 4, 2024, this wasn’t just any ordinary cruise—it was an epic voyage hosted by none other than Sir Richard Branson himself, with a special appearance by the legendary Boy George. And that’s not all! This exclusive sailing also featured talks from Virgin Galactic astronauts, as well as key Virgin Voyages leaders like CEO Nirmal Saverimuttu and COO Michelle Bentubo. A Star-Studded Crew: Richard Branson & Boy George
From the moment we set sail, the energy on board was electric. Virgin Voyages knows how to throw a celebration, and having Richard Branson, personally host the cruise made the experience extra special. He mingled with passengers throughout the journey, sharing stories and hosting exclusive events, giving everyone the sense that we were all part of something extraordinary.
But the real highlight? Boy George, the 80s pop icon and musical legend, was not only on board—he was the entertainment! His DJ set during the famed Scarlet Night had the entire ship on its feet. It was an unforgettable moment, as the beats he spun echoed through the ship, creating a night of fun, freedom, and fabulousness. And in true Boy George style, he took it one step further, dancing alongside us on the dance floor at The Manor, Virgin Voyages' nightclub.

Scarlet Night is Virgin Voyages’ signature event, and this time, Boy George took it to a whole new level. Picture this: the ship decked out in red, lights flashing, and Boy George DJing the ultimate party. His playlist was a mix of classic hits, dance anthems, and deep house beats that had everyone dancing.
This was more than just a party—it was an experience that embodied the spirit of Virgin Voyages: fun, fearless, and unapologetically fabulous.
Inspiring Talks with Virgin Galactic Astronauts, CEO Nirmal Saverimuttu, & COO Michelle Bentubo
Aside from the epic parties, the Celebration Cruise also offered moments of inspiration and innovation. One of the highlights was the chance to hear from the Virgin Galactic astronauts. These pioneers of space travel hosted intimate talks, sharing their experiences and what it’s like to be part of Virgin’s mission to make space accessible. As we listened to their stories, we were left in awe of the future of space exploration—and the fact that Virgin is leading the way!
The cruise also featured talks from Virgin Voyages’ CEO, Nirmal Saverimuttu, who offered insights into the future of Virgin Voyages, from sustainability efforts to the company’s vision for revolutionizing cruising; and COO Michelle Bentubo, who gave us an inside look at what makes the Virgin Voyages experience so unique, from the attention to detail in their ship design to the innovative onboard experiences.
